Thomas Gatter Law is a four-person boutique practice in Bassendean. Amanda and Ben are the Legal Practitioner Directors. Madeleine is an Associate. Judy keeps the office running.

Amanda Thomas
Amanda has practised law in Western Australia and Queensland since 2001.
She completed her Bachelor of Laws at UWA in 2000 and was admitted as a legal practitioner after completion of Articles in 2001.
Since 2001 Amanda has worked in the areas of family law, criminal law and civil disputes. Amanda's emphasis is on providing her clients with sensible advice and professional representation.
Prior to commencing as a director practitioner in 2015, Amanda worked for a medium-sized firm with offices in Perth and regional Western Australia, and with the Far North Queensland Community Legal Service, specialising in family law and consumer disputes and providing advice and assistance to communities in Cairns and regional far north Queensland.
In 2015 Amanda established AL Thomas Law with the vision of providing clients with personal one-to-one service. Amanda takes time with each client to ensure that each client has a clear understanding of the legal options available to them, the legal process in which they are involved and the costs associated with each option.

Ben Gatter
Ben graduated from Murdoch University with Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts, Mass Communications – Public Relations and Journalism, in 2010.
He completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the Australian National University in 2011 and was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia later that year. Ben has also completed an accredited mediator's course in accordance with the National Mediator Accreditation System with the Australian Institute of Family Law Arbitrators and Mediators in 2015.
In 2016 Ben was certified to practise in the High Court of Australia and in any federal Court.
Prior to joining Amanda Thomas at AL Thomas Law in October 2015, Ben worked for a boutique family law firm in Cottesloe.
Ben and Amanda jointly began practising as Thomas Gatter in 2018. Ben is now, along with Amanda, the Legal Practitioner Director of our firm.
Ben has extensive experience in family law in Perth for both children's and financial proceedings. He has also been involved in family law proceedings in regional areas of Western Australia including Broome, Geraldton, Bunbury and Kalgoorlie, and has appeared in other Family Courts including Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.

Madeleine Baxter
Madeleine graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Law in 2016. She went on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the College of Law and was admitted as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of Western Australia later that year.
Madeleine has experience in Wills and Estate Planning from her previous employment prior to joining Thomas Gatter, formerly AL Thomas Law, in 2017, where she practises Family Law, Violence Restraining Orders and Wills and Estate Planning.
Madeleine undertook voluntary work with SCALES Community Legal Centre and at Rockingham Court, sparking her passion to help victims of family violence by focusing her work in areas of violence restraining orders and family law.

Judy Polima
Judy is our Administrative Officer who handles the day-to-day tasks of our firm which keep Thomas Gatter running.
As well as being the welcoming face at our front reception, Judy handles all manner of tasks for the firm, whether it be invoicing, scheduling appointments, attending settlements, filing documents, file preparation or any other task we can throw at her.
Judy has been with AL Thomas Law since the start, and now continues her role with Thomas Gatter.
